AGC of Texas proudly champions education and opportunity through its robust scholarship program. Designed to support aspiring students pursuing careers in the construction industry, our scholarships recognize academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to the heavy highway construction industry. By investing in the next generation of construction professionals, AGC of Texas is fostering talent, driving innovation, and building a brighter future for our industry and communities alike. The AGC of Texas offers two different scholarships--traditional and vocational/technical.
The traditional scholarship is intended for undergraduate education in a 4-year degree program. The terms of the scholarship will be $5,000 per semester for a maximum of four years (eight semesters) or upon completion of the undergraduate degree--whichever occurs first. The selection criteria will be based on the applicant's academic performance, resume, and essay. A strong emphasis will be placed on students who intend to pursue a construction-related degree program.
The vocational/technical scholarship is intended for certificate or degree programs at a vocational/technical institute or college. The terms of the vocational/technical scholarship will be $5,000 per semester for a maximum of two years (four semesters) or upon completion of the certificate program or degree program--whichever occurs first. Those pursuing or enrolled in a certificate program that is longer than four semesters will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee on a case-by-case basis for a fifth $5,000 installment, if necessary. The selection criteria will be based on the applicant's interest in working in the construction industry. A strong emphasis will be placed on students who intend to pursue a construction-related program.
All scholarship students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the first year (or first two semesters) of the scholarship term. A 2.5 grade point average will be required during the subsequent semesters of the scholarship term. Scholarship eligibility will be reviewed at the end of each semester. It will be the responsibility of the student to provide his or her grade report to the Scholarship Committee via Morgan Wray ([email protected]) along with proof of enrollment for review upon completion of each semester. Once the student is deemed eligible, the AGC of Texas will issue the next installment of the scholarship and mail it to the address on file for the student.
Applications are now open and will be due by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Friday, February 28, 2025. Only complete applications will be considered. A complete application includes the following:
All sections of the application filled out
A copy of your most recent transcript--either official or unofficial (traditional applicants only)
All members are encouraged to distribute both applications to their employees. We strongly urge you to promote the vocational/technical scholarship program within your workforce and help identify potential candidates. In past years, vocational opportunities have been underutilized. We need your help in supporting vocational/technical education for a more well-rounded scholarship program.
