Chapter Overview

As a member of the Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch, you are one of the more than 31,000 firms comprising the Associated General Contractors of America. Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch is one of the oldest and largest trade associations in the nation, founded in 1924 as a Highway and Heavy Branch. The Texas Highway-Heavy Branch merged with the Texas Heavy, Municipal and Utilities Branch in 1983 uniting Texas contractors into one of the strongest and most progressive chapters in the construction industry. In addition to Associated General Contractors of America, the Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch also has charters in Texas for the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA). There are nearly 900 Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch member firms across the state.

Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch was established to promote the interests of its members, and to develop markets across the state. Maintaining the goal of member service, Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch programs have as a constant goal the improved relations with others in the construction industry. The chapter encourages professional ethical standards resulting in cost-effective quality construction that assures a growth market for all AGC contractor and associate members.

From its inception, the Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch has kept as a prime objective the cultivation of harmonious relations with public authorities whose jurisdictions may impact the construction industry. The Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch is highly regarded and respected by the Texas Legislature for its involvement in the legislative process as industry-related bills are formulated and implemented. Additionally, the chapter maintains a close working relationship with state agencies, federal officials, city, and county governments.

Certified as a "Full Service" chapter, the Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch continually expands its services and remains the best investment for current and potential members in the ever-changing construction industry.

Proof of the Texas Highway, Heavy, Utilities and Industrial Branch dedication to its members is the fact that the chapter has been awarded "Chapter of the Year" by the AGC of America twice. In addition, the chapter has received awards in National Partnering, National Training and NUCA Membership.
