Each of the four divisions meet as needed and report directly to the Board of Directors. Division chairmen are appointed by the President and is responsible for the establishment of liaison committees.
The Highway Division oversees joint activities with the Texas Department of Transportation and reports to the board of directors and members on federal highway funding. Specific committees under the Highway Division include the Joint AGC/Texas Department of Transportation Committee and the Specifications Task Force.

The Heavy and Industrial Division coordinates chapter activity with regard to heavy industrial construction and facilitates relations with federal awarding agencies such as Army Corps of Engineers and FEMA.

The Municipal and Utilities Division coordinates the activity of chapter members who perform utility work or routinely work for municipalities, and focuses primarily on issues affecting underground contractors. The M/U Division has also taken the lead in addressing excavator concerns with the state's One-Call legislation enacted in 1997. Committees active under this division include the Environmental Committee.

The Associate Division represents companies who provide services to support and enhance the construction industry and span a considerable range of expertise. AGC facilitates associate members to network with clients and to share and disseminate chapter information. The Division plans and manages the Annual Trade & Equipment Show.
